No forward or reverse 3.0 Merc w/Alpha one

Hi,

After hitting rocks at about 15 mph my prop is shot and something else is broke. Prop wont turn in niether forward or reverse. Engine just revs up.
When I turn the prop by hand in gear it turns the water impeller I can hear that. But something is broke connecting it to the engine.

Ayuh,...

Pull the Lower unit,...

I'm betting the vertical shaft has sheared off at the o-ring groove....

Thanks Bond-o you were right I pulled the lower unit and the vertical driveshaft was sheared off at the o-ring grove.

Now were is the cheapest place to buy one, and is it easy to replace?

Ebay would be cheapest if you can find the right one....
However, the tools & techniques required to pull & replace the shaft + the cost of the shaft, it might be cheaper to go with an aftermarket SEI....
The shaft is broken, who knows what other damage was sustained?.....
Especially the bearing carrier & prop shaft from a hard strike.....
It should be completely disassembled & all components checked, not worth the hassle, imho.....;)

hi there that happen to me too and the best way to go is buy a brand new outdrive from SE http://www.sterndrive.cc/, I try ebay first and I bought two lower units they promise that the unit never been and salt water and bla, bla, bla and none of the units was good paypal refun my money and I went to SE and bought a brand new complete unit put it on is working good, now I will try to sell the upper to try get some of the money back.

I just got this head from this guy has everything. Good used lower would be the cheapest. He won't sc--w you. His name is joe tell him allen who bought the head yesterday gave you the # 732-581-7030.
