Ok, I finally got myself a real boat.1995 Bass Tracker Pro deep Vee 17'.It has a 40 hp Mercury outboard on it.When I went to go buy it,batteries were dead and no gas in tank.I took a charged battery and gas along with me.it had been sitting for 7 months. No pressure in bulb,so I dumped in some tas.The bulb stiffened up and then it started for 2 seconds.I took it home,Got some more gas, added my flush tool and let it run for a while. The next morning, off to the lake I went.It started right up.My buddy parked the truck and I picked him up.We went out passed the no wake bueys and I opened it up.It ran at 23 mph for about 10 mins.We stopped and left it idleing then after about 5 min,it just stalled. It would start right up in nuetral, but when put in gear would just stall.I think the fuel filter is clogged.Looks like new plugs, and it ran great for a while.I'm going out to get some parts tomarrow, what do you think I should buy.
thanks,I replaced the fuel filter,it ran great. Then on the way home it clogged up again.I should have bought the 2 of them.I replaced the plugs and the fuel filter it ran 27 miles per hour at 4500 rpm's.Very nice boat. So, I will replace another fuel filter tomarrow.Do you think that I should just drain out the gas from tank and start all over.Seems like this will be a forever thing, evem with new gas in the tank now.
1995 mercury tracker pro series 40hp motor wants to die after you run it for awhile have to put in nuetrol and give it gas to get it to restart no water in gas is becoming a real pain cause afraid to take it out unless another boat is with me tried carb cleaner no difference in performance
