I have a 1975 Evinrude tiller stear 25 hp. The motor runs fine but when its in gear it will only push the boat at a slow speed. When I idle it up it won't push the boat. Can anyone help me out?
Propeller hub is slipping. That is the only thing that can slip unless you have catastrophic damage to the gears etc. I'm sure that if it were damaged gears you would have mentioned some grinding noises.
