I have a 1997 Pro V17 Tracker Bass boat with a Quicksilver 3000 control unit. I am in the process of recarpeting and need to remove the controller from it's side mounting bracket. I have disconnected both cables, 3 sets of switch wires and took the bracket loose from the boat. It appears that the throttle arm need to be removed so the cover can be taken off to get to the bolts. I have removed the shifting arms and linkages, the set screw on the underside of the throttle arm. The only way to remove the mounting bracket from the control unit is to take out the bolts behind the cover.
If someone explain how to remove the throttle arm it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Darrel

You need to remove the neutral warm-up button - may pop out if you pry on it. Careful, though - the buttons often break in the process - run you about $3.00 to replace... There's a brass nut inside the handle that removes to allow the handle to come off...

Yeah ^^^ there is a little slot in the bottom of the button to get a flat head screwdriver in. They'll still work if you only break one of the tangs off on the inside . . . You'll need an extension or a deep well socket (15/16?) to get the nut out.
