I have a 1989 Bayliner Capri 14 to 14.5 feet long with a force 50. I wanted to know if a 2005 Mercury ELPTO 50 horsepower with 20" shaft will work on my boat and if i have to change anything.

Should be a straight swap. Measure your shaft length to confirm that.
Running controls might be different - without being there hard to tell.
Just take a look at each engine and see how they will differ - if any.
Only other thing that comes to mind would be the transom mount - again you will need to look closely at that.

How can I find out the length of my shaft? The model number is 507X8C and the serial number is 2066
