Lower unit questions!

Is this a standard shaft engine, 20".

Will a long shaft unit fit?

Is it just the shaft length?

If so is it easy to change out the shaft?

A 20" unit is a long (15" is a short shaft). The gearcase itself is the same between a long and extra long, the driveshaft & shift shaft are the difference. Obviously a shift shat can be changed in minutes, If the d/s is a 2 piece it can be changed in a few minutes. If it's a one piece d/s the reverse gear has to come out to remove the pinion nut.

Thanks for taking the time to answer, I thought that was the case. I hit a few rocks last weekend and tore up my lower unit and found a great deal on an xtra long lower unit! Needed to know if it would work without too much trouble!
