First let me start by saying my engine is a 1989 Mercury Black Max 200hp. S/N OC212158. A couple weeks ago I noticed that when I started my motor sometimes it would charge, and somtimes it wouldn't. Now it won't charge at all. I have read through some old posts and can't seem to find anything to help. The manual I have doesn't seem to be much help either. I did a check on the 2 yellow leads coming from the stator and I got a reading of .39. Is there some checks I can do on the rectifier to see if it is bad. As far as I can tell it is a 40 amp rectifier and it sits behind the trim/tilt solenoids, and is mounted to the powerehaed. I have also checked wire conections and wires and they look good to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
