Default evinrude selectric shift

I have a 67 evinrude starflight 100 with selectric shift. I put 12v on the green & blue wires to the shift selinoids. results were power to one prop would turn clockwise, power to the other prop would turn counter clockwise, no voltage prop would turn freely and power to both prop would not turn either way. The question is are both selinoids good? Also did a resistance test and got 5.5 ohms on both. Not trying to get it to run but just want to see what parts are still useable for parting out. Thanks for your input.

don't ever do power to both on that again it will try and shift forward and reverse at the same time. Those default to neutral so if no power it should turn freely. Sounds okay to me.

Agree. Voltage on one wire or the other, never both. It sounds like it's working fine. Use the Type C premium oil in the gearcase, and always make sure the oil is good and you have no leaks, or it will be trashed in no time.
