I have a 87 four winns 16ft freedom 1 and I am thinking of putting a swim deck on it. Has anyone tried this. I know it will have to be shaped kinda like this to clear the out drive. __/--\__ if you have tried it and have pics or advise please let me know.
Thanks,
Jason

Re: swim plat form?

I just had one installed last week and took it out for the first time today. I'm really happy with the results, the company that built it did a great job with a factory finish install.

They installed shims on the trim rams to keep the outdrive from hitting the platform when trimmed up. The ladder extends almost 4' into the water and stows underneath the platform. I don't know if they have a form made for your boat or not, but here is their website if you're interested.

Best combo of cheap and easy would be to find and call a boat salvage yard. That style of teak platform was very common thru the 80's as original equipment/option on many boats. Some had cut-outs for the drive like your drawing (see first auction link below). Others had solid teak surfaces on either side, with a hinged teak flip-up door that you would flip up for lifting the drive (my quick search couldn't find any pics of that style...but they're around). When the door is down you have a full width teak platform without a cut-out.

You could snag one for $250 to $500 at many salvage yards including brackets, plus maybe $100 to $150 shipping if you don't have a yard local. Then you'd surely have to refinish/reoil it and do some minor woodworking repairs.

Or keep watching Ebay 'till the one you like happens to show up. There's always some being sold. Might have to cut/modify as needed, and many are reluctant to go thru the hassle of shipping so you might need to drive far to get it. But with the legwork you'd easily get a nice base to start with, and then custom fit your your application. Selection changes everyday. Here's some recent finds:
