I have a '92 johnson and am not sure if I'm mixing the oil correctly. Right now I'm mixing a pint to 6 gallons of gas, but have trouble with accelerating after a long idle. The motor dies when giving throttle. Does anyone know what's going on? I am using Quicksilver premium oil.

You are using the correct mix and an acceptable oil, Lj.

Whatever your problem may be it has nothing to do with the fuel.

Are you opening the throttle slowly or abruptly?

on mine the ignition timing advance just before the butterfly's start to move, your linkage might not be set right, you can see it when you start to move the throttle shifter....if the cables were installed per the manual and all else is well , it will do just that.
