I am trying to downrig with my 50 hp merc.I am currently using a 13p 10 1/4"?nd I have to rev pretty high to maintain 3 mph.I have a 15p 10 1/4" and a 15p 10 3/4" spare props.Does anyone have an idea which,in theory, will drop my rpms the most or will a 15p raise my rpm to obtain the same speed?

Re: idle prop pitch?

Largest diameter (10-3/4) , and largest pitch (15P) will move the boat further with less rotational speed.

ie. 10-3/4 x 15P will be the prop that accomplishes what you're trying to do, assuming it fits.

Just double check your wide open throttle rpm with the new prop to make sure its between 5000 and 5500 rpm with a lightly loaded boat. If you drop the rpm below that it is hard on the motor.
