I have a '77 merc 850 without tilt and trim. Could I just take the cylinders and pump from another engine and replace the lift assists with the tilt/trim cylinders? It looks like the hydraulic cylinders will fit right in place of the "shocks", but I wanted to check with the pros first. Thanks in advance!

You are almost correct. The PTT system has brackets that bolt on the top shock mount. The power trim cylinders top bolts to the bracket and the bottom bolts to the lower schock mount.

Yopu also need the external pump, four hoses and the wiring harness and three button panel

Thanks! I've found several used assemblies that contain the cylinders, hoses, pump, switches, etc. Where would I be able to locate that bracket? Is a boat bone yard the best place? Thanks for your help

They are unique to the PTT systems. I would expect them to come with the assembiles. You need to make sure however.
