i have a 1974 evinrude,when run wide open it jumps out of gear,bring it back to three quarter throttle it stays in.any ideas?

What hp? Does it seem like you hit a log? If so it's usually your clutch dog in the lower unit. The sooner you fix it the less parts you will have to replace.

if you know a machinist they can mill the flats back on like I had done to my force clutch dog.
