I guess I should have posted "alleged" dirtbag.
According to the article he waved something white and came out giving up, to bad, maybe it wouldn't have had to go back to court if he hadn't gave up.

Here is a link to the story:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7157845/

Re: Dirtbag in custody

It would have been so much cheaper and quicker if he put up a fight and deadly force was used. Now he is a taxpayer burden.

Still look on the bright side you could make him suffer for 35 years?

That would be a bright side only if you believe that prison is punishment. Most of them now have weight rooms, TV rooms, arts and crafts, better medical care than you on I get.

Georgia used to have it right but then the chain gangs were outlawed in favor of more "humane" treatment.

Re: Dirtbag in custody

The account I read in the paper this morning said the judge had asked for extra security because they had found a couple homemade knives on the guy in the last few days.

Then it said that he was in street clothes, not handcuffed (to avoid biasing the jury), and was being escorted from a holding cell in the courthouse by one 51-year-old, 5 foot tall female deputy sherif.

Now I'm not going to criticize her at all, I mean, she followed orders in the face of grave danger & got her skull fractured and face broken as a result. But does anybody else wonder who the decisionmaker was & what the heck he was thinking when he handed out that assignment?

Re: Dirtbag in custody

ret nav
I am with ya. I wish he would have gone down fighting.
however this is not the first time its happened. I dont think prisoner escorts should be armed at all. to many instances of the prisoner taking the escorts weapon. the few violent crimminals we had in the norfolk brig used 3 escorts. two unarmed and the third was an armed backup with a mossberg 12 ga pump. the backup was not to be withen 10 ft and the gaurds were trained in line of fire rules. we had one at NOB that had been violent and beaten a guard once. when they sent the transfer escort to pick him up it was 2 3rd class petty officer female types. the biggest may have been 5'2" and maybe 130pounds. the prisoner was about 6'2" or 3" and about 25o. I would not release the prisoner, I called back over to the MAA office and talked to master chief and explained the situation. I dont know where he got the next gorrila escorts but I did not think we had such big marines. 3 of them. one armed with a 12ga and the other two with night sticks. I swear those marines had to have been over 300 pounds apiece :) . was kinda funny though. before the cell was opened they explained how it was going to work and asked if there was any mis-understandings :) :) . was the closest thing to a beating promise I ever heard.

What is amazing to me is this happened in Georgia. He's a black man, escaped and killing people, and they didn't shoot him.
