I need to get this 65hp merc outboard off the mount in order to clean out the pivot tube where the motor swivels on. The motor wont turn side to side. How do I go about removing it?

Dave, you might want to post on Merc site.BUT.Be sure to remove the steering, then heat the housing that the steering arm runs through. It takes alot of heat and oxy acetalene is about the only way to get the whole unit hot from top to bottom

the steering cable is removed. We tried to hea *** up last night while it was still on the boat and it did loosen up while it was hot. But when it cooled it got stiff again. I think I am going to try and heat it up again. But If all fails we are removing the ebgine and trying to clean it out by hand.
