hello new i/o owner of 83 vintage runs great handles great had a back end full of water up too oil pan in 4 hrs . pumped it out took it out of water . got home and put water in compartment it leaks out at right looking at outdrive lower bolt area . is it a gasket or tighten lower bolts with silicone sealer thanks jack

uh... do a search on bellows replacement / leaking...

You're either in for several hundred (400-500? haven't paid someone to do it) or a real treat in finger contortion / gymnastics...

I'm sure others with greater experience will chime in with additional details, or you can find same by searching.

it also means that there's a (really)
good chance you'll need u-joints and gimbal bearing replaced...


Sorry if that's a downer... consider it a right of passage / initiation ritual....

Sounds like you have a rotten (soft) transom. The lower bolts are aluminum and probably corroded in half because of the water in the transom.
Replacing the bolts and replacing the transom (if rotted) is the only repair.
