Color me confused. Bought a boat (1995) with the OMC Cobra drive and its powered by a V-8 Ford.

Can it be there are no flappers in the exhaust on this animal because I sure don't see it.

What is the deal with that?

Howdy,

Well, you didn't indicate what model you have....but It depends on where you're looking.

If you're just looking "in the back" you won't see them.

If you look below.......It's #51 in the image from Doug Russell parts.......OMC calls them seals. Doug Russell among others, sells them.

Well....there's no "bellows" on the Y-pipe....

(I guess you could call #41 a "bellows"......it's just a piece of flexible rubber exhaust hose)
(flexible because the engine is on rubber mounts and the Y-pipe is fixed/rigid with the transom)

But yes. they're in there (if they're still in there!)

They usually don't go anywhere but they do get sticky and if someone ran the engine with no water or let it get hot by running it after destroying the raw water pump, those "flappers" usually get burned (the rubber in them)..... then they may get sticky and not close when they should.
