25hp Mercury Stalling

I have a 2003 Mercury 25hp outboard; it is getting gas, but stalls when I put it in gear - after about 2 minutes. I can pump the ball and it keeps going so IF it gets the gas we're fine.

I've replace the ball and line and the gas filter - worked for a bit, but now is back to stalling.

HELP!!

Its time to rebuild the fuel pump.

Does your 25 have a back flow valve. Read my post kjoiner. I fixed my own problem. I happy and damn prowed of myself enough to spread the wealth. Good luck.

Thanks Commander - yes, that sounds like a must; the marina I took it too gave me NOTHING back after $100(+) diagnostic fee.

Kjoiner - Thanks...read your thread. I will take a look at the back flow valve as soon as I'm able to find it - LOL.
