Hi,

Any help really appreciated. I have a Mariner 50, 4 stroke outboard, that is approximately 12 years old.

On my last 2 trips the engine lost power after approximately 40 minutes of use and would only move the boat at 12 knots (top speed is 35+). On one occasion the power came back after 10 minutes.

There was no coughing or spluttering from the engine. Has anyone experienced similer problems or any ideas as to possible causes. This is my first boat so this is all new to me!
