Unresponsive trim.

Hello every-one, my name is Mel, and I am a first time Forum user, and I am very thrilled to be a member. I have a rather old (maybe a 1968 model) 90hp
Johnson in very good running condition, but I cannot trim. Can anyone please advise me on what the problem may-be. Thanks.

Lets start by getting the year. What is the model number of your outboard?

The old 89.5 cubic inch 90hp were made in 1964 and 65. When you say you can't trim... do you mean as in power trim? OMC did not introduce Power trim until 1973. Power tilt has been an option from 1960.
