98 SportJet 175 Won't Start

My 98 sportjet was running great. It would start right up, idle like a dream, and then run on out to 5k no problem. One day I decided that i wanted to check to make sure it was firing on all cylinders, and check plugs. One at a time i removed spark plug wires to listen for rpm changes then put them back. I got to the top cylinder on the starboard side, pulled the plug wire and as soon as it was removed the engine bogged and died. I put the plug wire back on and now it will not start. It will not even try to start, it rolls over and nothing happens. Do any of yall have any idea of what might have happened. The engine is not flooded. I would check for spark but since i am working on this by myself its kinda hard to hold the screwdriver or sparkplug and crank the engine. Need help ASAP HAVE to get on the lake this weekend, its killing me.
