motor won't raise up

1986 Sea Ray in fairly good condition. Went to the lake, no issues lowering the prop assembly. When loading onto the trailer the unit wouldn't raise. I could hear a clicking sound on what appeared to be a pump unit with two high pressure lines on it. I wiggled wires to ensure connection and after several minutes it finally raised. Is there a solenoid that needs replaced or does the whole unit need replaced? Any help would be awesome.

Sounds like a bad selinoid (sp).....................if you can access it and have a test light or meter you can check it for voltage on both sides.
