Just purchased a 91 stingray with 4.3 litre alpha 1. I have an oil leak that looks like it is coming from the upper unit shift shaft. What seal or seals could cause this? I have just changed the driveshaft seal, impellar and impellar housing. This is my first boat so any pics, links to manuals, p/ns would be helpful. Boat shop is out of manual at this time. Do I need to remove the whole unit to change the shaft seals? Any help is appreciated. The good news is it is a new motor and runs good.

Manuals can be found Here,....

There are Several Seals that might be the issue,....

Do you have an Alpha I or an Alpha I Gen II drive?
91 was the first year of the Gen II drives, but boats may have older engine/drive packages installed depending on when the boat was built.
