Hey all,Just picked up a 1946 - 1949 5hp seahorse at a yard sale.It's in ok shape but doesn't run.No fire at the points.Everything looks clean and not rusted up.Almost like there is a kill switch somewhere that I"m not seeing.Can anyone help me out here??? thanks..Kevin

No fire at the points?? Well, never mind...
99% of the no spark problems on that motor are dirty breaker points. Take them apart, one set at a time so you have a sample of how they go back together, and clean all the grease and goop off them, then polish each contact individually with some 400 grit wet-or-dry sandpaper. Be extra careful not to lose any of the many little insulators. Reasemble and set gap to .020". Bet you will have spark.

I think there may be a kill switch that is activated when you move the spark advance/throttle lever to the extreme left. But having repaired hundreds of those motors, I gotta tell you I can't remember ever having any problem with the kill switch. That's why I can't even remember for sure if it has one or not.

Be extra careful not to lose any of the many little insulators.
Also take care to refit them in the correct positions! :)
