Looking for the year of a Mariner 30 M

Last year I bought a 1971 Boston Whaler 13-foot boat with a 30-HP Mariner that the seller thought was a 1994 model.
The serial number tag says 30M 689 S 0264 01. It says made in Japan and has a Yamaha symbol stamped on it. How can I find out what year motor this is? If it is a Japanese Mariner, how to find parts for it?
This is a tiller model, is it posible to convert it to a remote control?

If that number is 689S 026401 and not the way it's printed it is a 1985
