Replaced impeller about 3 weeks a go. Been doing fine. Took out about 3 times no problem shifting. Today at first would not go in reverse then would not go in forward. I know it is something in lower unit. What am I looking at as far as repairs? 1993 low hours. Thanks Ron

How do you 'know' that it is something in the lower?

First try disconnecting the shift cable at the motor and manually shift it, does it shift OK now? If yes then maybe it is just time for a new cable. If no, then you have a problem and will have to look inside.

I agree.Disconnect at the motor and see if the shift lever moves at the helm.
Then see if the linkage at the motor will shift it into gear.
I bought a boat one time and the person told me its hard to shift because of the way the cable was routed. And I believed them.:(
If it is something in the lower unit and its a salt water motor they may not be able to get it apart.
