I have a 88 force 85 horse outboard. I recently changed out the trigger to make it run but now it will only run for a few minuets and then bogs out, then it is really hard to get it to fire and it gets fairly hot. I didnt notice any water coming out so I am not sure if it is not cooling or if the trigger is not adjusted right, looking for any sudgestions on what it could be or how to adjust the trigger.
thanks

p.s.
I took the plug off the top of the power head to see if it was getting water but I couldnt see any thing when cranking

If you even think a little bit that your motor is getting hot:Then change the impeller. NOW!!!!! Every time you overheat it (just a little) you are doing DAMAGE!!!!!!!
Change the impeller then worry about the trigger.
You need to know how to time the motor to adjust the trigger. Jerry

Sometimes it takes a minute to start pumping up to the thermostat housing when on the muffs. However, if you don't know when your impeller was changed last, change it now. Don't forget, never run it without water or you will ruin the pump impeller.

While you are at it you can change out the lower gear oil.

John
