I have a 98 35 hp 3 cylinder evinrude and going at a slow speed the hot light goes on and the alarm sounds. I checked the pee spray and it appears to come out at a good spray. If I let it cool and travel at a faster pace the engine runs fine and the hot light does not sound. I checked the intake and nothing is blocking it. Could it be my impeller and if so, is it a hard job,does the shift linkage need to be unbolted from the engine or does it need to be unbolted at the intake, are they any diagrams available and can I remove the lower unit while it is in knee deep water.
