Pressure fuel tank connectors

I have a Johnson Mile Marker fuel tank, circa 1957. The tank is in good shape with new gaskets and gas hose. When the button is pumped to get gas to the carb sometimes it leaks a little at the 3 prong style connectors. After pumping up and pulling the motor through a couple of times, if the motor is not running a hissing sound can be heard at the connector. Does this indicate the o-rings need to be changed, or am I simply pumping the button on the tank to many times. I have made sure the lines are clean with no obstructions. Gas gets to the engine within a few pumps and I pump it until the button is firm and does not depress any further. After a few pulls of the rope start the button can be pressed again, maybe 3 or 4 times until it is completely firm again. From what the Seloc manual explains pumping the tank moves fuel to the carb, it does not pressurize the tank. The tank is pressurized once the motor starts and sends air down the air line to the tank.

1. Am I pumping the tank to many times?
2. Should I replace the o-rings as it does not look overly difficult?

Thanks!

Re: Pressure fuel tank connectors

What you said is correct, just replace the o-rings
