93 5.0 mercruiser carb 4bbl
I can put the muffs and hose to start on land and it starts right up.
Back it into the water and try to start it and it floods? I did not pump it ,just put in full throttle and turned key. You can hear it trying to start but never takes off. Choke problem?
Also when I did have it the (1/2 hour running) water after idle for 5 -10 min. push to full throttle would sometimes back fire. Back off throttle and move ahead slowly and its fine.
steps I did so far:
new plugs- old plugs a little on the black side,like burning to rich.
new fuel/water filter.
fresh fuel + sea foam
cleaned flame arrester
(replaced exhaust flaps also this season)
Also checked timing, was fine.
I will try to clean carb next and choke assm.
Any ideas?
