I have a 1986 OMC 3.0L 140hp engine in our boat in which i am replacing the head gasket, and i am wondering how much torque in ft-lbs i should apply to the 10 bolts which hold the head together.

I keep the upper limit to 90-93. Don't forget to coat the bolts. I also add a little white lithium grease under the head of the bolt, a machinist told me that trick.

You do it in 3 steps:

35

65

95

And in the proper sequence as outllined in the service manual that you should probably get.

I will try to show the sequence:

REAR

9 10

5 6

1 2

4 3

8 7

Front

Does that work for you?
