Default moldy pontoon deck carpet

I have tried everything I know to try to get rid of the green mold on my pontoon deck carpet. The boat is a 2004 tracker with marine berber carpet and everytime it gets a little wet, it molds. I've tried hydrogen peroxide to kill the mold and pressure washing it all away and the day after I take it out, its back. I've tried changing the location of where I keep it and the same thing. Any ideas please???

Getting mold out of carpeting is tough. You have to make sure that you kill the spores and get the carpet dry as quickly as possible afterward.

You can try wetting the carpet with a solution of a cup of bleach per gallon of water and let it sit for at least 30 minutes in order to kill the spores then use a shop vac to pick up the excess water, then use a fan blowing over the carpet to help speed up the drying process. You do have to be quite careful and there is some risk that you'll bleach out some of the coloring in the carpet and/or discolor anything metal that the solution touches.

Or, you can try something similar using a commercial solution to kill the mold spores.

As far as cleaning goes, Bennington told me to use a scrub brush and a little soap.

As far as keeping it clean, try a squeegee. The problem is the water that's being retained by the plastic carpet (I assume its some form of plastic.) Pushing out the water will give nothing for the mold to grow in...until it rains...which is why my playpen cover covers the exposed external deck too.

If you've used chemicals, then what you are seeing isn't growing mould, but the mould you can't get rid of via whatever means you're using (e.g. power washing.) Remember, the carpet has many facets, front, back, sides, etc... so you really have to scrub to get it "clean." Chances are your chemical attempts have killed the mould (at the time of treatment) but that doesn't mean it looks clean because that mould was 360 around each fibre. More power spraying may work, especially if you get it from all sides...no easy task.

A brush, squeegeee, and then brush again, then hard hose spray worked for me.
