I can imagine that my trim rams will die someday. Where can I get parts to rebuild (or have them rebuilt)? Is this something a hydraulic repair shop is used to seeing, or would I need part numbers & such?

They are just plain old hydraulic cylinders. Can find new lip seals at a industrial supply house for a 10th of the price of some OEM kits.....

Bring your old ones in to match.

Getting the cap out of the end is the only hard part. And that's easy when your dad brings his spanner wrench that fits the Mercruiser's. After that it's just replacing rubber seals and putting it back together in the correct order. Mercruiser kits are about $22/ea with shipping from a discount place online. ANd they come with pictures and instructions. Check Iboats for OMC Cobra kits.
