mercruiser 470....having trouble with my starting motor over heating when then engine is running. If I shut the motor off after driving for a while I can't restart the engine. It feels as if the starter is trying to draw more current than the battery can supply and I KNOW the battery is ok. I even put two batteries in to double the cranking amps.....any suggestions? Could there be a high spot on the starter motor that needs to be machined down? Can i have rebuilt or should I buy new?

any help appreciated

thanks!!!

Uou already know the answer.................But I would check all the wiring connections before I pulled the starter and had it tested. If the starter is bad ..................rebuild or replace.........it's up to you.
