Default 850 mercury timing help please

I have a mercury 850 I replaced the stator and forgot about the timing does anyone no how I can check it to make shure its right it cranks great and goes to fire but stops all the wires are great in the motor and I just need to no how to do the timing any suggestions

If that motor has a distibutor, the timing did not change. Other than that put a timing light n #1 cylinder and chec it at idle pickup

Hit the search button on the Merc forums and type in "Timing and synch" that will give you many hits. Choose the one on Merc Inlines to 1988
