Question on new prop

I have a 94 Searay 17' with a 94 3.0 MerCrusier. I replaced the original prop with a Solas, I have gained a few mph and love the performance. Question though, with the new prop i get more exhaust out of the transom it seems, is this normal? I replaced the prop exactly like i took the old off and its the same pitch. By more exhaust, when at WOT or crusing speed, you notice the spray from the lower unit.

My guess is the barrel is the wrong diameter or prop is not close enough to the gearcase.If you have the old prop put it on and compare.
Is it truly exhaust or just disturbed water?

ok, I bought a solas prop,. after reading all the good reports,.
comparing to a mich wheel prop,. I exp. no
noticeable improvements,. no better performance,.
and areas of paint have flaked off,.

the michigan wheel prop costs less,. paint stays on,. and it is made in the USA,.
