I think my water choke is leaking into my carburator would this cause my motor not to open up to full speed?

Re: water choke

Well certainly it would affect performance and even destroy the powerhead if that is happpening. What makes you think that it is happening and why do you think it is the choke at fault? If the hoses are swapped around it would cause it. There are two water hoses and a vacuum hose going to the choke.

Re: water choke

I have had the motor for several years but never had the time and or money to get it to work I replaced the coils and the points and rebuit the carburator put it on the water it ran fine for a few minutes than it cut back to about 1/2 power I have talked to several people no one knew what the problem was today I put it in a tank and was playing around trying to find the problem and I seen somthing coming out of the carbuator i tasted it and it was water the choke was disconected on the side you set it on their was onlay a switch to turn the choke on or off I dont know if the hoses are wrong i put the one the water comes out of to the hose on the same side at the bottom i left the vacume hose on the choke I want to take it out and try tommow the lake is about a hour away if this will work or any other sujestion would be great

Re: water choke

Are you possibly talking about a "thermostat" here by any chance? Perhaps the thermostat, which is another name for a "water choke" is stuck and the gasket blew because the water is getting too hot....?

And I have to say, you really need to place some "punctuation" in your post. Your entire post is one long, "run on" sentence and for me at least, it was really hard to read and understand.

I bet if you put in a couple periods, a few capital letters to start a sentence, you might get a few more replies.

I would not go tasting random fluids running out of your motor? Most fluids smell if it does not id suspect it to be water?

Re: water choke

If you put the hoses on the wrong fittings it will pump water into the intake manifold.
