40 hp Sea King non starter

I have a 40hp sea king that came with a 1957 Cris Craft plywood kit boat.
It look original to the boat??
It won't start.
what i have done so far.
cleaned and checked plugs...lots of spark at both.
removed carb and cleaned it and blew it out.

cleaned and hooked up new gas/oil.
the motor turns over fast and strong but does not fire??
What am i missing??

Check out the thread "Awakening A Sleeping Outboard" it will get you started and maybe the outboard, too.

If that doesn't do it do "Outboard won't start". Both threads are in Engine FAQs.

Let us know what you find.

Give us the model number. Motors were built by a number of builders.
"lots of spark" Is it a strong blue with an audible snap.
Any evidence of gas getting to the plugs?
With gas unhooked carefully squirt fuel mix into the carb throat as you crank.
