Help! No high speed

I have an older model evinrude 12/24 trolling motor. It is foot controlled. I only have it hooked up to one battery and it only has medium and low speed, no high. If i get another battery and run it on 24 do you think i will then get high speed? Like maybe high only works on 24. Just bought the boat and know nothing about this trolling motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Can't be sure about your particular model, but usually all speeds are available to both 12v and 24v. I would bet a dollar that you'd get nothing on 24V hi-speed either. but low & medium would both be higher than they are now.

tiller-steer, right? take the speed control apart & clean it up, could be nothing more than just some dirt and corrosion down in there.
