HELP! HELP! HELP!

There is a MOISTURE BUILD-UP in the DISTRIBUTOR CAP of my 302 Ford V8
Engine on my 32' Slickcraft Boat. IT WILL NOT IDLE DOWN! What is causing the problem????? Thanks C&D

As far as I know, cher, Ford never made a 302 V8 outboard.

I will move this for you.

Your centrifical advance mechanism may be frozen up or the springs may be bad causing the timing to be too far advanced at idle. I would suggest rebuilding or replacing the distributor.

1st thing that should be done,.. Is the find Where the water is coming from,+ Get it Stopped....

Wipe out the moisture. Spray it with a electrical contact cleaner. It is not uncommon for moisture to build up (depending on atmospheric conditions) even on a vented marine distributor.

If it continues to re-appear, rapidly, then that is a different issue that I do not have a ready solution for.
