Fresh Water Pump

I thought I had a bad fresh water pump but it does make noise when connected to the battery outside of the boat. I checked the other ends of butt connectors with voltage meter, which connect to the wires on the pump, no current on them. I tried to trace the wires but they are in a coiled housing going to the back wall of the engine compartment, I can not figure out where do they go from there. Someone said the pressure switch may be a problem. Is the switch at the helm which says galley pump, how do I get to it? How do I trace the wires further from back wall of the engine compartment? The wiring diagram in the manual is not very helpful. Any help is appreciated.
