1995 Mercury I/O 4.3L Mercury Alpha 1 lower unit.

Loaned boat to my little brother-in-Law...
Reverse does not work now. He forgot to put the lower unit in the water when backing from the dock. Can this cause the reverse to fail. He said that the boat performed well going forward, and started all weekend. We have had the boat for several years, but have had no problems.

I appreciate in advance your help.

I don't know that your Bil caused it or Not,...
But,...
It's probably due for a new Shift cable,+ maybe a full transom Service.....

Will You be doing the actual Repairs,..??
