Johnson 15 lower unit corrosion, I want to cry!

Went to replace the impeller with a water pump rebuild kit only to find serious corrosion in the lower unit where the impeller sits. I am sick to my stomach right now!! I also just watched a used lower unit go on ebay for $283.95cdn with 58 bids!! WOW

Are you saying it's so bad that it is unusable? Is it a salty?

I found another lower unit and it's in good shape. The anodes were painted on my original unit, my late father did that I'm afraid, lesson learned! I'm going to repair the original with J-B weld to have as a spare for me or some other unfortunate soul!!
