Initally the pilot light wouldn't stay lit so I replaced the thermocoupler. Now the pilot light will stay lit, then when I turn the valve on the burner kicks on and stays lit for about 5 seconds and then clicks off. Any suggestions guys? Thanks.

Thermostat? Maybe it thinks the water is already hot.

By the way, ever see a "warm" or "cold" water heater? My propane water heater sometimes (mid-summer) thinks the incoming water is hot enough and won't heat it any more. I have to raise the thermostat to about 160* to get it to kick on at all.

Yes, I read your post about that JB. It certainly could that because when the burner goes out, I can hear an audible click from the control valve. It seems to be deliberately shutting off the gas for some reason (safety I'm sure).
