Doing some interior work and took the throttle handle off. When I put it back together it wasn't quite right; the disk for the safety pin was off, the boat shifted fine if the handle was moved quickly but if it was moved slowly the gear would grind or would not go in gear. I took the handle off again, I put the disk for the safety pin properly seemed to shift a little better but still would grind if not shifted quickly. It has never had a shifting problem before. The outdrive has been serviced last year. Are there any adjustments that I should have made.

Bravo drives don't grind, they have a cone clutch, and a 3.0L engine has never had a Bravo drive installed, and the Bravo's didn't come out till 88.
So what do you really have?
Assuming whatever you had worked before you took the control apart, we will assume you have a problem with the control. Do you have a picture of your control?
