wiring for new radio

I connected my new radio and when the acc is on (boat not running) to listen to the radio I get a faint warning buzzer noise. This was the same in the old radio (just tolerated it). I tried to connect directly to the battery and thus avoid the existing wiring harness and still have the faint buzz. Any suggestions.

never attached anything to the ignition other than what is required to run the motor. run off the fuse panel. you may be getting a back feed thru the speakers, are you sure the are all wired correctly. what other electronics, are you using.

I get the buzzer when 2 toggel switches (dash lights and depth finder) are on, and of course the radio when on accessories, and the motor not running. Thought using the hot wire from the battery would fix but did not. Have not tried running the negative directly from the battery to the radio yet? What do you think?

Backfeed is common when the negative is hooked up in a circuit where other insturments are also hooked up. A straight shot to the negative terminal of the battery MAY fix it.

There are a lot of variables in any audio installation that can cause hums, buzzing noises or distortions. The wiring of the head unit is just one possibel cause of it.

Good Luck...

Try turning the fish finder off, also are you sure your ignition switch has an ACC position? as most don't or are you turning the switch to ON, which I wouldn't recommend either.
