I have a J88msleim(91,88spl)with a bad rectifier.Since it'll be a couple of weeks till I can get a new one,is it ok to run the motor with the rectifier not charging?
The rectifier should be disconnected if you believe for any reason that it is bad. It is not necessary for any ignition function. If the wires fuse on a failed rectifier it can and often does destroy ignition components. It is also a fire hazard.
Map the wires before removal so that you can more easily connect the new rectifier.
