Thanks, i bought the motor and two line tank for $120. It was alittle bit more than I wanted to spend on it but when I got it home and cleaned the dust off it was like brand new under the cover. It was seized up but I shot some 2 cycle oil in the cylinders and let it sit for a few hours and it freed right up. It was not firing so I replaced the coils, points, and condensors. I'm going to try and start it before I rebuild the carb. I've never done that before. I'm sure I can work my way through it. I would not be doing what I'm doing without the help I've got from you guys. I thank you for help no matter how stupid some of my questions were. Again thanks.

Thumbs up Re: 1957 evinrude 18 hp flywheel nut torque specs

I was in the same shape as you were not long ago. Those '57 carbs are the easiest and most reliable carbs I've worked on. I LOVE 'em. You won't have any problem with them, just get a new carb kit with a new plastic float---not a cork one, and you're in business. Don't forget a new impeller/water pump kit before you crank it up unless you at least look at the impeller and be sure the blades are nice and flexible. You're going to absolutely love that motor and be astounded at how smooth those old dudes will run when properly tuned. If it has enough compression, it will crank no later than 2 pulls no matter what the temp. is outside. That was an AWESOME price, by the way!

Good luck,
JBJ
