I have a 1997 5.7 Mercruiser that has been very well maintained but left me high and dry on Memorial day weekend. Engine had ran great all day, pulled into dock for a bathroom break and it would not restart. I'm not getting any spark to the sparkplugs. Backtracking from the plugs, I'm getting 12v from the coil to the distributor cap. Both cap and rotor appear to be in excellent condition. I've checked the fuse panel and a 15amp fuse had fried itself to the point that it may have damage the fuse block at that location. I replaced the fuse in a non used section of the block and moved the corresponding wire to that fuse. I'm contemplating buying a new cap and rotor, but I think I'm throwing money and parts at the problem and don't think those two things will solve it. Any help is welcome.

With the key in the AC but not start position, I'm registering 12v to the coil lead at the distributor cap. When the key is turned to start, the voltage drops to 6 and change.
