I have an issue with my engine cowl and ignition wires. The engine runs fine with the cover off, but the ignition shorts out with the 'clam shell' cover installed. I can't find the area, or which wire has the problem. I was never a fan of Mercury's engine cowls (way to much complication for an easy task), but this one seems like an odd fit.
I'm thinking these wires are original ('86 50hsp 3cyl), and should be replaced. Do the wires kits come with the rubber boots? Or just the wire and terminals?
